10. Vitrail pour Herbie —
Is dedicated to the memory of Herbie Spanier, a true innovator, trumpet player, a member of Paul Bley's group in the 50s. Using aquarelle, I painted a vitrail, a stained glass window. After the fact I remembered that Herbie had done a few aquarelle pieces. Barre thought it looked like a "mistre", the pope's headgear. Within the panes I drew figurative and non-figurative images, rhythmic figures, some of which are taken from Herbie's composition, Festival. This is truly a three dimensional piece with instant interface, very challenging as Herbie would have liked it.
