Out Twice is an engaging series of loose-limbed improvisations by a pair of trios sparked by drummer Michel Lambert, with most of the track improvisations based on Lambert's drawings. Details of his work, a melange of lines, words, and even occasional musical notes, are reproduced in the booklet, along with his notes on each piece. Each trio's instant compositions rely on a conversational sense of interaction, with active and reactive voices blending in a generally melodic fashion. The absorbing music of Out Twice is well worth hearing—and looking at.
