Chicago duo Aram Shelton and Johnathan Crawford combine wind instruments and percussion with synthesizer and laptop, projecting jazz momentum over reiterative loops. That mixture suggests descent from mid-period Soft Machine, although Grey Ghost's is a more focused symbiosis of breath and circuitry, striving more towards the kind of deep fusion of instrumental resources that Supersilent regularly accomplish. Shelton's alto streams fluently across the surface and reappears among the lower strata, fragmented and frozen into a recurring sample. Crawford's drumming tracks the saxophone trail or rumbles around ambient stasis.
